Nutrition Philosophy The nutrition philosophy of SHS focuses on healthful eating patterns for a lifetime rather than temporary calorie and food restrictions. Registered Dietitians work with each client to develop individualized healthy eating patterns that meet their unique nutritional needs and medical histories. It is our priority to emphasize healthier eating patterns in which the client learns to regulate the quality and quantity of their food, through education and greater attention to their internal cues of hunger and satiety. Nutrition counseling is critical to the success of a healthy lifestyle and a weight management program.
Nutrition Education
Nutrition education focuses on the following topics: importance of food variety, benefits of food journaling, identifying hunger and fullness levels, designing personalized nutrition plans, interpreting food labels, understanding diet and disease relationships, strategically dining out, modifying recipes, balancing challenging food occasions, achieving a lifetime commitment to improved nutrition patterns, and writing nutritional goals for health. Nutrition education is achieved with one-to-one counseling and nutrition group seminars.
Nutrition Outcomes
Specific dietary outcomes include evaluating the nutritional adequacy of the diet by assessing intake of the three macronutrients: carbohydrates, protein, and fats and vitamins and minerals. This is completed by food journaling and nutrition analysis. In addition, the Registered Dietitian helps prevent or reduce risk factors for chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. The Sound Health Solutions Program provides a safe and effective exercise program, designed specifically for each individual, which will increase self-esteem, self-efficiency, and most importantly, overall health.
Reasons for Participating in this Physical Activity Program
One of the most powerful tools for overall health is physical activity. Regular activity, even in the absence of weight reduction, can improve blood pressure, cholesterol levels, energy levels, as well as blood sugar levels. In this program the client will become stronger, develop endurance, gain energy, and improve body composition by decreasing body fat percentage while increasing lean.  Tips to keeping Sound Health  vegetable oils
Carrier oils  also referred to as base oils or vegetable oils are used to dilute essential oils, CO2s and absolutes                                     fresh vegetable
before applying them to the skin in say, a massage. They “carry” the essential oil onto the skin and dilute the essential oil safely. Different carrier oils offer different properties and  the choice of carrier oil can depend on the therapeutic benefit being sought. Some are particularly moisturizing, some have a high vitamin content.
Carrier oils as part of our aromatherapy supplies range are generally cold-pressed vegetable oils derived from the fatty portions of the plant.

Unlike essential oils that evaporate and have a concentrated aroma, carrier oils do not evaporate or impart their aroma as strongly as essential oils. They can, however, go rancid. Our carrier oils are natural and unadulterated. Exceptions include buying carrier oils that have natural vitamin E added. Vitamin E acts as a natural preservative. I do not stock any carrier oils that have vitamin E added as a preservative. Most oils bought in the grocery store are not cold-pressed. Instead, the oils are heated treated, often have preservatives added and therefore have less therapeutic benefit. Mineral oil is not used in aromatherapy because mineral oil is not a natural product. It is a petroleum by product. It is also said that mineral oil can prevent essential oil absorption into the skin.
